Space-IoT Talent Program

The Space-IoT Talent Program is designed to equip individuals with hands-on skills in IoT and space-based technologies. This program focuses on empowering participants to develop innovative Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) tailored to climate-smart agriculture. Through workshops and practical training, participants learn to integrate IoT tools with Copernicus Earth Observation data, enabling them to create impactful solutions for challenges in crop and fish farming. The program also fosters critical thinking and technical expertise, preparing participants to drive technological advancements in their communities.

The Space-IoT Innovation Program focuses on fostering entrepreneurship and innovation among SMEs. It offers a platform for businesses to experiment with IoT-driven applications, enabling the development of cutting-edge solutions for sustainable agriculture. Participants collaborate with experts to pilot practical tools, utilizing the KijaniBox platform to address local challenges. By integrating Earth Observation data with IoT insights, this program aims to strengthen regional innovation ecosystems and build a foundation for scalable, tech-driven agricultural practices that benefit smallholder farmers.

The mission of Smart & Lean Hub Oy (S&L) is to build capacity on public and private bodies and value chain operators to enhance high-level operational excellence measured by quality, delivery and cost. Smart & Lean Hub Oy is a Finnish based micro enterprise, which customers are private and public bodies either through direct assignments or through external national and international RDI funding.

S&L puts effort on five interconnected actions: 1) capacity building and coaching, 2) practice-oriented experiments and development activities, 3) process, service and product innovations, 4) community building and stakeholder management, and 5) data-driven approach. Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) is a State Corporation established in 1979 by the Science and Technology Act, Cap 250 of the Laws of Kenya, which has since been repealed by the Science, Technology and Innovation Act No. 28 of 2013 which has recognized KMFRI as a national research institution under section 56, fourth schedule. KMFRI's mandate is to undertake research in "marine and freshwater fisheries, aquaculture, environmental and ecological studies, and marine research including chemical and physical oceanography", in order to provide scientific data and information for sustainable development of the Blue Economy.

Africa Bioenergy Programs Ltd (ABPL) is a company limited by guarantee that focuses on promoting bioenergy technology solutions for both domestic and industrial clients. ABPL was formally registered in Kenya in 2021 and has over 8 years of experience in deploying biodigester technology solutions for households. To date we have served over 23,000 households access clean cooking energy and organic fertilizer solutions and supported 147 local enterprises grow their business in fixed dome biodigester construction services in Kenya.

ABPL started as Kenya Biogas Program (KBP) contracted under Hivos Foundation to manage implementation of a national biodigester project between 2015-2019. Social Impact remains the primarily goal of the company, in alignment with the global sustainable development goals, majorly goal number 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 13 (Climate Action) among others. ABPL is responding to the existing gap of access to affordable and sustainable clean energy solution technologies, innovations, and management practices (TIMPs) for domestic and productive uses in Kenya.

SIDO was established in October 1973 as a parastatal organisation under now Ministry of Trade, Industry and Marketing (now Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment).
 
Its objective was to develop the small industry sector in Tanzania. It was expected to fulfill a very wide range of functions, from policy formulation to direct support to industries, to hands-on involvement in the establishment of SMEs in both rural and urban areas. Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) is a specialized institution of the East African Community (EAC) located in the City of Kisumu, Republic of Kenya and within the Lake Victoria Basin (LVB). The Commission is mandated to coordinate sustainable development and management of the Lake Victoria Basin in the 5 EAC Partner States.

Lake Victoria is hydrologically delineated and covers an area of approximately 183,000 Square Kilometers with lake surface of covering about 68,800 square kilometers. Lake Victoria is the 2nd largest freshwater body in the world. The East African designated Lake Victoria Basin as an area of ‘high economic interests’ and a ‘regional economic growth zone,’ to be developed jointly by the EAC Partner States.
